Hi. My name is Nicki De Buyzer and I am a part time teacher here at St Joseph's School, Oamaru.
I grew up in Nelson in a large and some would say noisy family. After finishing High School I attended Christchurch Teachers Training College. Three years later I was let loose on my first delightful class. I often wonder where they are now. Two more years of teaching in Christchurch and marriage followed, before Oamaru beckoned.
Here began my long association with the St Joseph's community. I spent four years teaching in the senior area before leaving to raise my own family, daughter Jana and twin sons Samuel and Isaac. The children all attended St Joseph's and when the boys were still in the Junior school I came back to teach part-time - and obviously I thoroughly enjoy it because here I still am!
My personal interests outside of school are reading, sport and exercise. My current passion is rowing, my family would tell you it is an addiction, and I spend quite some time down at our Oamaru Harbour trying to perfect what is a very technical challenge. I also love Netball and while I played and coached for many years I am now simply an avid armchair viewer of any game on TV.
Finally I love our family holidays which are enjoyed mainly either in beautiful Queenstown or sunny Nelson and while I have been lucky enough to have experienced a couple of trips to Europe I look forward to more travel when the boys fly the coup.
